When a hiker gets tired, sometimes the only option is to redirect energy and find another thing to enjoy. In our case, we decided to get to Salida, Colorado and then switch to the Pacific Crest Trail and go southbound.

Finally reaching the San Juans in Colorado, plus hiking well over 12,000 feet fairly regularly, we were on our ways through the most challenging part of CDT.
